Start with people. I want to understand what people are trying to do, where they get stuck, and what matters to them. That means paying attention, asking better questions, and checking my assumptions.
Think in systems. Care about the details. I design for how a product might grow while making sure it works well today. I care about the small things, too: a clear label, a thoughtful default, one less step.
Make deliberate choices. I’m willing to try something unfamiliar, but I want a good reason for building it. Sometimes the most useful design decision is deciding what to leave out.
Stay open to being wrong. Working with new technology means there won’t always be a clear answer. I make the best call I can, test it, and change direction when I learn something that challenges it.
Make room for other perspectives. Teammates and the people using a product see things I miss. I listen, work through disagreements, and help us reach decisions we understand and can stand behind.
Find joy in figuring things out. I like untangling a complicated problem and giving it a shape people can understand. I take responsibility for getting the work done, while leaving room to play, follow a hunch, and enjoy making something.
